Browser Processing Guarantee

Last updated: May 15, 2024✓ In effect

Details on our 100% private, local processing engine.

Privacy First

Our standard PDF tools operate entirely within your web browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers, ensuring your data remains completely private.

At PDFino, we believe that your documents belong to you. Our Browser Processing mode is designed from the ground up to guarantee maximum privacy by utilizing the computing power of your own device.

1. How Browser Processing Works

When you use any of our standard PDF tools, the actual processing—whether it's merging, splitting, compressing, or rotating—happens entirely within your web browser using WebAssembly and modern JavaScript APIs.

  • No File Uploads: When you select a file, it is loaded into your browser's memory, not sent over the internet.
  • No Cloud Storage: We do not store your files on any cloud servers or databases.
  • Immediate Deletion: Once you close the browser tab, the document data is immediately cleared from memory.

2. Supported Browser Tools

The following tools run completely in your browser under our Browser Processing Policy:

  • Merge PDF
  • Split PDF
  • Compress PDF
  • Rotate PDF
  • Convert PDF (Word, JPG, Text)
  • Sign PDF
  • Protect PDF
  • Watermark PDF

3. Offline Capability

Because the processing happens locally, many of our standard tools can function even if you lose your internet connection after the page has fully loaded.

4. Local Storage

We may use your browser's local storage (e.g., IndexedDB or localStorage) to save your preferences, such as your theme choice or whether you have consented to use AI tools. We do not use local storage to persistently store your PDF documents without your explicit action.

5. Security

The most secure server is no server at all. By processing documents on your device, we eliminate the risk of server-side data breaches, man-in-the-middle attacks during upload, and unauthorized third-party access.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Browser Processing Policy occasionally to reflect technical changes or new tools. If we add new tools that require external processing, they will fall under our separate AI Processing Policy and will always be clearly marked.
